1. Marvel's The Avengers (2012)

This movie is a fun romp through the Marvel Universe, with emphasis on FUN. Arguably the first true comic book movie where the pure spirit of the comics was placed unadulterated on screen.
The brilliance of Joss Whedon is how he used so many characters, giving them each their own heroic moment, without seeming crowded. And he finally made the Hulk work. How? Make him a super-strong force of nature, make him a funny and lovable hero, and anchor him with a strong but edgy Bruce Banner played brilliantly by Mark Ruffalo.
The fact that this movie did so well tells me that there is hope for humanity!
